The purpose of this website is to provide the "average Jew" in the English-speaking world (mostly North America) a guide to the Jewish marriage ceremony in a framework that will help guide Jews in how to live their lives as Jews according to the joys of Torah and mitzvot.
There are two main reasons why I created this site:
1. I do not believe that there are adequate resources for those who are not immersed in the observant world and are fully knowledgeable about Jewish law and custom. I believe that most resources available either are targeted at those who already live an observant life and have had a strong Jewish education or those who are not committed to Jewish law which is the foundation of Jewish life. Unfortunately, there are too many resources out there that claim to portray the "Jewish" view but, in fact, may encourage people to act in a way in violation of Jewish law. This would not be accepted in other contexts (i.e. something that claimed to express the "American position" would not encourage violation of American law) and, I believe, violates the precept of לפני עיוור - the prohibition of placing a stumbling block before the blind (Leviticus 19:14).

If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am most interested in resources on Jewish life and Jewish weddings that recognize the multicultural backgrounds of the Jewish nation. |
